Save Huck Finn

Save Huck Finn

Bear #17 has been known as Huckleberry Finn or Huck Finn since it splashed down the ways at the Nunes Bros boatyard in Sausalito in 1940. It has had a long history through various owners, and is well known on the Bay. Huck Finn won its class in the Master Mariners race three times between 2014 and 2018. Up until the end of 2019, Huck was hauled every year and needed maintenance done, including some refastening.

Most recently, Huck Finn has been on the hard at the San Rafael Boat Harbor since the beginning of the pandemic. The nonprofit that has owned the boat can no longer care for it. Huck Finn has been moved to a private location and some Bear Friends are seeking a new caretaker who will restore the boat to sailable condition.
